Clearance in First Order and Zero Order Elimination Kinetic
Clearance is an imaginary volume of plasma from which a drug is completely removed in unit time.
↓
elimination process is not saturated
↓
at higher concentrations of drug → more drug molecules are eliminated &
at lower concentrations of drug → less drug molecules are eliminated
↓
the volume of plasma from which drug is completely removed remains constant
↓ i.e. clearance remains constant.
↓
elimination process is saturated
↓
fixed number of drug molecules are eliminated irrespective of plasma concentration of drug
↓ at higher concentrations → less plasma is cleared &
at lower concentrations → more plasma is cleared
↓
i.e. clearance is not constant.
