Clearance in First Order and Zero Order Elimination Kinetic
Clearance is an imaginary volume of plasma from which a drug is completely removed in unit time.
â
elimination process is not saturated
â
at higher concentrations of drug â more drug molecules are eliminated &
at lower concentrations of drug â less drug molecules are eliminated
â
the volume of plasma from which drug is completely removed remains constant
â i.e. clearance remains constant.
â
elimination process is saturated
â
fixed number of drug molecules are eliminated irrespective of plasma concentration of drug
â at higher concentrations â less plasma is cleared &
at lower concentrations â more plasma is cleared
â
i.e. clearance is not constant.
